Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Edinburgh

Howies Restaurant

10-14 Victoria St, Edinburgh EH1 2HG, UK – 0131 225 1721

One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Could not fault it one bit. My wife and I had the fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection. We also had starters and desserts as well as beer and wine. They do a two course meal deal which was very reasonably priced but it didn't apply to the steak. The atmosphere was relaxed and cosy which fitted with the location. Staff were great too, very attentive even though it was so busy. In all it came to just over £100 including service which was well worth it. Can't recommend it enough and will certainly return, possibly for lunch tomorrow.

A great place at a great location! Was recommended by our free walking tour tour guide Fiona. Went there for the £11.95 2-course lunch menu. Had soup of the day, Cullen Skink, salmon, and catch of the day. All very well seasoned and cooked to perfection!

Blonde Restaurant

71-75 St. Leonard's St, Edinburgh EH8 9QR, UK – 0131 668 2917

Went here for a Sunday evening meal as a family group of 4 on the strength of reviews, and we were not disappointed. The decor and lighting is pleasant and modern. We all chose from the bargain menu, the options were varied enough for all our tastes, the portions generous (or standard? Not small anyway) and the food delicious. The single hardworking waitress provided good service, and our food orders arrived swiftly. We'll be back, found a new favourite restaurant!

Had tried once and decided to take my parents who come and visit Edinburgh to try again. Very cozy and delicious food. Pretty Scottish. Good service as well. Offer free freshly baked bread.

Tower Restaurant

National Museum of Scotland, Chambers St, Edinburgh EH1 1JF, UK – 0131 225 3003

My friends and I came upon The Tower during a walking tour in Edinburgh and decided to book a reservation. It seemed like a neat location for a fine dining establishment and it had a unique view. The food was delicious but we were surprised that the service was really lacking. No one ever returned to pour wine (and we’d bought a very very expensive bottle) not did the waiter ever ask if everything was okay with our food. It was very odd. Pricey. Tasty. But they pretty much put stuff on your table and then never talk to you again. 5 Star food. 3 star service (if that) averaging to a 4.

Pretty darn good fare - - delicious etc - - but a wee bit too big for its buttons in terms of pricing. However, at any rate, you will definitely have an absolutely wonderful, first class meal here with exceptional ingredients. With a lovely waitstaff! And an amazing view of Edinburgh btw... Good stuff! 😊
